Safety Precautions

The Reserve is home to lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, buffalos, hippos, scorpions, snakes and other dangerous animals. Bateleur’s Nest Lodge is an Unfenced Camp. This means that wild animals can roam freely through the lodge. For this reason, it is very important to take the necessary safety precautions at all times.  Malaria is seasonally present so a malaria prophylaxis is advisable.

At the time of booking or at check-in, I will share my credit/debit card details and authorise the use of this card for any amount owing to Bateleur’s Nest Lodge, which has the right to require full payment in advance or a deposit at the time of booking in certain circumstances.  No Booking shall be treated as confirmed until the details and/or payment/deposit described in this paragraph have been provided.

The prices displayed on the website are average prices per night/per person until a rate is selected.  Any meals, service or VAT (at the prevailing rate) are included only if specified. A minimum length of stay, deposit, cancellation charge and other conditions may apply to certain rates, as specified. Once a rate is selected on the website, the total for the requested stay shall be displayed on the reservation summary. Prices shall be charged in Euros.

Check-in/ check-out requirements

In the interests of security and to prevent fraud, at the time of check-in, guests may be required to confirm their identity by providing their booking reference; passport/identity card; driving license and a valid credit/debit card, which will be swiped in the presence of the card holder. The lodge reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone who cannot provide the information set out above.

Unless otherwise stated on the booking confirmation, guests may check-in at any time from 12:00 on the scheduled day of arrival.  On the day of departure, all guests must vacate their rooms by 10:00 (unless a later departure is stated as part of the booking).  Late check-out after this time can be requested subject to availability. Rooms are subject to maximum occupancy rules set by the lodge.

The following methods of payment are accepted: credit cards:  MasterCard/Diners International, Diners Club, JCB International Credit Card, Visa; debit cards; Visa/Delta and Visa/Electron.
PayPal and bank transfers.

All outstanding charges must be paid for in full on check-out from the lodge.  If the outstanding charges do not exceed the authorisation taken on check-in, the authorisation for the amount not used will be released. However, the lodge cannot control how long it takes the guest’s bank to effect such release.  If staying for multiple nights at the lodge, guests may be required to make payment for any outstanding charges on a more frequent basis during their stay.

The cancellation policy varies according to the rate that is booked.  Please refer to the individual full rate descriptions given at booking.

Changes or Cancellation by the Lodge

Very occasionally the lodge may need to cancel a booking.  In such circumstances, guests will be given a full refund but the lodge shall have no further liability to the guests arising out of such cancellation.  The lodge will, however, use reasonable endeavours to try and relocate any confirmed booking it cancels to an alternative location similar in standard to the lodge.

The lodge reserves the right to charge a guest’s credit/debit card for any damage incurred to the guest’s room or the lodge during their stay (including specialist cleaning) or for any items that are missing when the guest leaves.
